Gender Studies in 18th and 19th Century Witchcraft

Faculty: tayphil8992
Group Description:
Demon. Witch. Devil-worshiper. These are just a few of the titles given to those accused of witchcraft in Europe and America during the 18th and 19th century. These persecutions were a combination of religious fervor, mob mentality, and fear of the unknown. Oftentimes women were accused due to their vulnerability and lack of strength to resist Satan. This course focuses on the women accused of witchcraft during the 18th and 19th century, as well as the misogyny and religious force that pervaded entire nations.
