Infanticide: 18th-century Women on Trial

This exhibit contains trial documents pertaining to the trials of women for infanticide, as documented by oldbaileyonline.org@ and aggregated by 18thConnect.

The transcription of the trial of Mary Frances Jones can be found at OldBaileyOnline. Jones was eventually found guilty of a lesser offense, confined in a house of correction, and fined for concealing the birth of a child.
The transcription of the trial of Sarah Panton can be found at OldBaileyOnline. Panton was found not guilty due to lack of evidence.
The transcription of the trial of Susan Burrows can be found at OldBaileyOnline. Burrows was eventually found not guilty.
